World Health Organisation recommends reclassifying cannabis under International Treaties

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended that the United Nations (UN) remove cannabis from Category IV, the most restrictive of the 1961 Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs. In a letter sent to UN Secretary-General António Guterres on 24 January, WHO says that the proposals will be forwarded to the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs (CND). Initially, it was expected that the WHO recommendations would be released in Vienna in December 2018, but the announcement was postponed for reasons unknown
